Here on the Mediterranean coast, humidity isn't a minor detail. It can determine whether your bathroom still looks great five years from now.
That's why we always recommend paying attention to a few key points:
Large-format porcelain tiles, which require fewer grout lines and therefore leave fewer places for dirt to build up.
Non-slip flooring in the shower area. Looking good isn't enough if the floor is slippery.
Moisture-resistant furniture and countertops. Standard particleboard simply isn't built to withstand prolonged exposure to moisture.
A good extractor fan. It's one of the least expensive parts of a renovation and one of the most effective ways to prevent mould.
Before choosing tiles, think about the layout
Almost nobody considers renovating their bathroom until they simply can't put it off any longer.
Blackened grout, a scratched shower tray, that bathroom cabinet that has started to swell from moisture. And yet, the bathroom is where you start and end your day.

The bathtub: the big question
The first thing we do during any visit is ask how you use your bathroom. It may seem like a small detail, but it can determine the entire project.
If there are three of you at home and everyone needs to get ready at eight in the morning, a double vanity might be much more useful than a bathtub that nobody uses.
Moving the shower to a different position or relocating the door can create more space than any decorative trick. And making these decisions before the work begins can save you from unpleasant surprises once everything has already been stripped out.
Moisture Matters
Replacing a bathtub with a shower tray is, by far, one of the most common requests we receive. And we understand why.
It creates more space, makes getting in and out much easier, something that becomes increasingly important over the years, and is much quicker to clean.
If you also replace the shower curtain with a transparent shower screen, the bathroom can feel much larger without having to remove a single wall.
That said, if you have young children or simply enjoy having a bath from time to time, it's worth thinking it through carefully. There is no single right answer, it depends on how you live.

Storage Without the Clutter
The Details That Make a Difference
A bathroom can look beautiful and still become chaotic if there isn't enough space to store everything.
Wall-mounted furniture can make a huge difference because it keeps the floor clear and makes cleaning much easier. In the shower, a built-in wall niche keeps all those shampoo bottles and toiletries neatly out of the way.
And in narrow bathrooms, a tall storage unit makes use of vertical space that would otherwise almost always go to waste.

Taps, handles and accessories are things you interact with every day, so it's worth making sure they work well together. Matte black, chrome, brushed gold — whichever you prefer, but ideally stick to one consistent finish.
It doesn't cost much, but it makes the whole bathroom feel thoughtfully designed.
When it comes to colours, our advice is to play it safe with the permanent elements — whites, beiges and light greys — and add personality where it's easy to make changes: towels, plants or a feature wall with a different finish.
That way, if you get tired of the look over time, you won't have to renovate the entire bathroom again.
